2023 Advent and Christmas Services
Christmas Charity – Embrace the Middle East
As a Church over the Christmas period, half of all
donations taken at services will be given to the Charity
Embrace, a Christian presence in the Middle East who will
work to help heal wounds and rebuild communities after
the conflict, without regard to background or affiliation.
Revd Munther Isaac, Pastor of a Church in Bethlehem and
a Trustee of Embrace was asked what ‘Immanuel’ means
in Gaza, the West Bank and for Palestinians displaced
across the region this Christmas. It means, he said, “God
is with us…. under the rubble. God is with those who are under the rubble because God himself – Immanuel – was
the victim of violence. God is always in solidarity with the victims of violence. This is
the true meaning of Christmas, the presence of God in the midst of violence.”
